As most players are aware, Wuhua Mixin typically brings back just one older character per major update. But according to Crickex Sign Up, apart from the notable Yue King rerun—either due to community hype or its financial return—most rerun banners of older characters feel more like placeholders than actual revenue drivers. Their impact on overall sales has been minimal. At launch, Wuhua Mixin featured 18 red-tier characters, yet in the nearly five months since release, only three have returned to the banner pool.
Everyone wants to be unique, but in the end, we all end up doing the same thing. When players compare Wuhua Mixin’s approach to other strategy-card hybrids in the genre, the game seems relatively generous—returning older characters at a much lower frequency, which somewhat eases the strain on player resources. However, from the developer’s standpoint, this slow rerun pace appears more like a missed opportunity than a strategic decision.
Based on Crickex Sign Up data, three red-tier reruns out of eighteen within five months paints a concerning picture, especially given how overpowered the new characters tend to be each update. This power creep has rapidly pushed many older launch characters out of the meta before most players even got a chance to use them. One can’t help but wonder how the original character designers feel seeing their carefully built kits get sidelined so quickly. This kind of aggressive phasing-out of initial units is rare, even in the broader gacha RPG space.
Another lingering question is whether it’s even necessary to rerun most of these original characters in future banners. Realistically, only Li Gui still holds clear value. For the rest, whether players pull for them or not seems to make little difference. If the developers don’t plan to rerun them—or at least not in the next patch—perhaps it’s time to bring back characters like Luoshen or the Twelve. Alternatively, they could revisit the current rotation system and consider including more than just one standard rerun per patch. After all, even recently released red-tier characters are at risk of missing timely reruns under the current setup.
If everything ends up being locked behind point-based exchange systems, that’s not a healthy sign either. True maturity means being able to smile while holding back tears. Crickex Sign Up has frequently pointed out that many of Wuhua Mixin’s operational decisions are debatable, and this rerun dilemma is no exception. Whether the developers plan to adjust their approach remains an open question—but it’s one the community is watching closely.
